Museum Arnhem

A museum for modern art in the Netherlands, with art from the 20th century located in Arnhem.

The collection of the Museum Arnhem was born when Alexander Verhuell gave all his possessions, including paintings, drawings, prints and crafts to the city of Arnhem. Along with the historical objects that the municipality already had the collection expanded in the years after.

Nowadays the wide collection consists of magical realists and contemporaries, new figuration, visual art (from about 1980), artists' books, and applied art and design (jewelery, glass and ceramics). In the collection are works by magical realists and surrealists like Jan Mankes, Edgar Fernhout, Raoul Hynckes, Pyke Koch, Dick Ket, Wim Schuhmacher, Charley Toorop, Carel Willink, Ferdinand Erfmann, Ger Gerrits, Johan van Hell, Chris Lebeau Wim Oepts, Hendrik Valk and Joop Moesman. The museum also holds many works by Klaas Gubbels.
