Elien Hagedoorn

Elien is specialized in the way cultural organisations are assessed for public funding. During her master’s she researched the way the assessment for the Dutch ‘Culturele Basisinfrastructuur’, the cultural organisations that receive national government subsidies, can be optimized so that it better reflects the museums’ cultural value. She interviewed museum directors and members of the Dutch Arts Council. An article she wrote about this subject will be published in a digital edition of Boekman magazine.

She is interested in all kind of public and cultural organisations, especially in museums. Elien has a Bachelor’s degree in Pscyhology from the Utrecht University and a Master’s degree in Public Management from the Utrecht University School of Governance. During her master’s she studied cultural policy and she participated in the Arts-Based Research honours program. As a part of her thesis she was an intern at the Boekmanstichting in Amsterdam.
